Rising 9-12 Grades

  • Standardized Test Preparation Courses (STEP) – PSAT/SAT/ACT

    Learn how to get a top score on the PSAT, SAT, and ACT exams! We will show you how to ace the test and help you get into the college of your choice. Beyond reviewing key content, you will learn dozens of test-taking techniques and strategies to improve speed, accuracy, confidence, and, ultimately, scores. Pre and post practice tests will be given and scored to provide you with feedback on your strengths and areas for improvement. You will also develop a customized study plan to help prepare you beyond the course.

    Course Materials include: Pre and Post assessment, College Board Official SAT Guide, individualized study plan

  • Standardized Test Preparation Courses (STEP) – CAHSEE

    Learn how to pass the CAHSEE exam! This course will review and provide strategies for working through the Math and English covered on the test. Students will also learn dozens of test-taking techniques and strategies to improve speed, accuracy, confidence, and, ultimately, scores. Pre and post practice tests will be given and scored to provide you with feedback on your strengths and areas for improvement.

  • Exploring Careers in Math, Science, Technology and Engineering

Rising 2-8 Grades

  • Creative Writing (Rising 2-7th grades)

    Do you want to be a published author? Students in this class will write and illustrate their own stories. Students will learn the elements of creative writing including narrative, verse and dialogue, and use materials drawn from their own work and selected texts. Students will develop a book of their own work.

    Course Materials include: student journal

    • 9am-11am:  Rising 2-3rd grades
    • 11:15-1:15pm: Rising 4-5th grades
    • 1:30-3:30pm Rising 6-7th grades
  • Elementary Math Camp I (Rising 2nd and 3rd grades)

    How many times will you get “heads or tails” when you flip a coin?  What are the chances you’ll get “doubles” when you throw the dice?  After this class, you will look at money, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in a new way! Take this course and have fun playing games while learning math such as:

    • All Probability, where you will play games while gathering evidence, analyzing data, making predictions, and drawing conclusions.
    •  In Build It, you will play the role of an architect as you learn mathematics concepts while joining in fun, hands-on construction activities and math challenges.
    • Math Mania will refresh your math skills through stories, games, and team projects that are fun and engaging.

  • Elementary Math Camp II (Rising 4th and 5th grades)

    Lose your fear of math functions by taking this course. The interactive games and activities will reinforce fractions, decimals, and elementary Algebra. Such games include:

    • Fractions, Decimals, and Algebra – Oh My! where we will work together and explore all the things that numbers can do.  You will play lots of fun games, like Math Jeopardy and Perplexors.
    • BrainPOP and other fun websites that will show us how to use computers to help us learn!
    • Geometry and Measurement Mania where we will take a hands-on approach and learn about everything from polygons to perimeters by using rulers, yardsticks, scales, and more.
    • Money Matters  we will find out how money works and why saving money, shopping for good deals, setting financial goals, using credit cards wisely, and even starting your own business can give you more choices in your life.

  • Middle School Math Camp (Rising 6-8th grades)

    Get ready to conquer the unknowns of Algebra by solidifying your skills through fun games and activities. Students will gain the tools to see the things that matter to them in a new way.  Sample games and activities include:

    •  Picture It, where we will learn how to see numbers in a new way through visual representation.  We will create, manipulate and interpret different types of graphs, including bar and pie charts.
    • In Lucky Number, we will learn the science of luck and make smarter choices by improving our knowledge of probability.  From lottery tickets to the flip of a coin we’ll use games and activities to explore probability and statistics.
    • Then in Pre-Algebra Puzzlers, put a fresh edge on your problem-solving skills as we review essential pre-algebra knowledge through puzzles and games.
